Every Child Initiative Worship Night

ECI WorshipNightSlide.jpg

Join us Sunday evening, November 12th at 6pm at our University Campus for a special night of stories, prayer and worship, centered around God's heart for vulnerable children.

Our Every Child Initiative exists to glorify God by envisioning, equipping and empowering disciples to have gospel impact in the lives of vulnerable children.

How does God want you to be involved in caring for vulnerable children?

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
— James 1:27

An Interview with a Volunteer

An Interview with a Volunteer

Volunteer interview.png

Q: Hi Amy, thanks for sharing with us. Can you tell us where have you been doing recovery work?
Amy: I have been going to Bonita and helping to clean up some 55+ communities. Specifically I have been to the Citrus Park Community and the Imperial Bonita Estates.

Q: What's it like there in those communities?
It is hard to process what it is like. It is hard to imagine while driving around Fort Myers/Estero that a short 10 minute drive south has such sadness and destruction. The amount of trash (pieces of houses, pieces of trees, road signs, furniture, etc.), the smell and the piles of already collected and cleaned items is overwhelming at times.

Q: What needs are you seeing?
The greatest needs are moving large pieces of debris (both yard and house) to piles along the roads. The more people that come out and help the more we can serve and provide. Many of the residents have not yet returned because they cannot move items or clean items to even get into their homes.

Q: What sorts of things have you and the team been doing to help meet those needs
I have been moving furniture, clearing debris, talking with the people who live in the community, and I have even had the opportunity to pray with them!

Quote.jpg

Q: What's one thing you would want people to know about?
You are needed! Many times I don't do something because I have the idea in my head that there are plenty of people who will show up to volunteer, so it won't make a difference if I am there or not. That is absolutely not true! Those communities need as many people to help as possible. They need to come in contact with people who are there representing and being the Church. They need to be prayed with, listened to, and cared for. The more people representing Christ by volunteering, the more He is glorified!

Q: What's been the reaction of the community to the volunteers?
Every person who walks by or drives by (in their golf cart) stops and talks with us or thanks us. They are so grateful every time they see one of the volunteers.

Q: How can we pray for these folks in our community who are experiencing such hurt?
That people see Jesus in it. That they don't give up, that they don't feel complete despair, that they don't think they are all alone in the recovery - but that they realize that we the Church are here for them, and most importantly that Jesus loves and cares for them.

Naples Location Change

NL graph.jpg

Because Regal Cinemas sustained significant damage from Hurricane Irma, we are planning to meet at our multi-purpose facility (located at 2575 Northbrooke Plaza Dr. #300 Naples, FL 34119) for the next few weeks and don't expect to go back to Regal.

While we don’t have a final ‘move in’ date from Barron Collier High School, we’re excited to return to a newly renovated facility this fall!

We’re so thankful for you and for your understanding during this period of transition. We’re confident in all of this that God is good and that He has great plans for His church in this community. Thank you for carrying out the mission with us to make disciples that represent the gospel to every man, woman and child!

Please contact Aaron Lundquist at aaron@summitlife.com with any questions.

Fall Mission Trips

Missions Social Slide.jpg

FALL MISSION TRIPS

This fall we have two upcoming short-term mission trips; one in October and one in November. While these trips do serve our Xpansion partners, they are also eye-opening experiences for us as we see God's activity around the world and experience His invitation to join His mission. We'd love to have you join us for one of these life-changing trips! Here are the details:

TRIP ONE - HAITI
1.) We'll be visiting our long time Xpansion partner, Mission of Hope in Haiti on October 21st-28th. The trip will consist of helping in their medical clinic as well as helping with construction.

TRIP TWO - MEXICO
2.) We'll also be taking a trip to one of our newer partners, Living Hope International in Puebla, Mexico. We'll have a chance to love on some of the orphans there and help them maintain their facilities, as well do some outreach into the surrounding community. That trip will take place on November 4th-11th.

For full details including costs, please contact xpansion@summitlife.com.

Recovery - Intimacy with God

During the month of June, Recovery will be walking through one of Summit’s Discipleship Outcomes “Intimacy with God”.

We will begin by looking at what the Bible says about our need for Intimacy with God and then what some hinderances can be. On June 15th we have invited Chris Minot to speak about Codependency or the “Fear of Man”; one of our greatest obstacles in trusting God.

Join us at 7pm on Thursday nights at at the University Campus and be encouraged and strengthened in this community of help, healing and hope. If you have any questions please email us at Recovery@summitlife.com.

Naples Congregation Summer Location

This summer, Barron Collier High School will be undergoing comprehensive renovations to their auditorium, creating a new, modern facility. While construction is under way, we have partnered with Regal Cinemas to temporarily relocate our Naples congregation's Sunday gatherings to their facility located at:

6006 Hollywood Drive Naples, FL 34109

Ultimately, this will be very beneficial to our congregation to return to a newly updated facility in the fall, even as we continue to search for a permanent location to build.

Details:

• Our first Sunday at Regal Cinemas will be May 21st.

• We will return to BCHS as soon as renovations are complete. Estimated to be back in September.

• Questions? Email Aaron Lundquist at aaron@summitlife.com
