Gateway Summer Schedule

MOVING TO 1 SERVICE AT OUR GATEWAY CONGREGATION

We have some big news for the summer that we want to share so that you can be in the know. Beginning the first weekend of June, on Sunday the 4th, in preparation for moving into our new, larger facility in a few months, we’ve decided to consolidate to 1 singular weekend service at 10am on Sunday mornings at our Gateway congregation.

This will enable us our Gateway staff to prepare the volunteer teams of our various ministries and begin our scheduling rhythms in order to make the transition to that new facility.

We think this move to one weekend service will also help catalyze what God is doing in midst of that congregation as we all are able to gather as a church family together.

Again, this begins on June 4th and then immediately following that 10am service we will share a BBQ lunch together!

On Thursday, May 4th, we will discuss our spiritual reality as a part of God’s larger story and we will culminate this series in a time of prayer and worship on May 25th.

Join us at 7pm on Thursday nights at at the University Campus and be encouraged and strengthened in this community of help, healing and hope. If you have any questions please email us at Recovery@summitlife.com.

Membership Class

At Summit Church we practice covenant membership. In covenant membership, the church and the individual link arms, to live as light in the midst of a dark world. In this relationship, the church member is cared for, protected, and commissioned by the church. In turn, the church body is strengthened by its members who embrace and live out the mission of the church.

Church membership is a declaration to the world of what it looks like for individuals to live faithfully in the midst of a Gospel-centered community, and what it looks like for a Gospel-centered community to care faithfully for each individual.

Our next Membership Classes are being held:

UNV - April 30th - contact Ashlyn@summitlife.com

NAP - May 7th - contact Wendy@summitlife.com

GTW - May 20th - contact Bethany@summitlife.com

Women's Ministry - New Studies

Women Ministry.jpeg

Our University Campus is launching a new study on Thursday, March 16th.

We will meet on Thursday mornings from 9:30am - 11:30am downstairs in the Multipurpose Room.

We will begin a new 8 week series; All Things New, a workbook study on 2 CorinthiansOver 8 sessions, Kelly Minter will lead us through the letter of 2 Corinthians, exploring the anchoring truths of bearing treasures in jars of clay, meeting Christ through a pressing thorn, opening wide your heart in the midst of hurtful relationships, and what it means to embrace the lost and lonely as ministers of the new covenant.

Each of us has a message to proclaim and live by: Because of Jesus the old has gone, the new has come. Workbooks available at the study for $15.

Thank you for helping us prepare by registering for this study.

Also, childcare is available, but please make sure to register your child so we can plan a safe and loving environment.

Forum on Human Trafficking

We see it on the news and read about it on social media…the issue of human trafficking has become not just a growing concern but an unavoidable conversation. The state of Florida in general and this area of SWFL in particular is a geographical region that is especially affected with recent reports stating that human trafficking has increased by over 50% in the past year.

The growing statistics leave us all wondering what we can do? How can we help? What would it look like for the church to more actively and intentionally engage in the fight for the lives and protection of vulnerable people? How can the church lead the way in rescuing victims? What would it look like for the church in SWFL to rise up and not just make a dent in the industry, but eradicate it altogether? How can we strategically assist ministries that are already working hard to end this travesty?

Come join us at a Forum on February 26th as we discuss these kinds of questions. Find out what exactly trafficking is, what is being done to stop it, and how the church can engage in standing up against it.

We will have our ministry partners Wings of Shelter and Porchlight with us to educate, equip and present opportunities with which we can engage in as the church of Jesus.

Come and learn how we can lead the way in bringing Christ’s light and redemption to the darkness.

Go Love

GL_4x6Card.jpg

At the start of every year, Summit Student Ministries goes away for a long weekend for intentional discipleship training. This retreat away from home has become known as GO/LOVE. With an emphasis on passionately pursuing God and growing relationally with their peers, the students who attend GO/LOVE this year will be challenged to live out a life that glorifies God.

DETAILS

Depart from our University Campus at 5pm on Friday, Jan. 13th (19601 Ben Hill Griffin Pkwy Ft. Myers 33913)

Travel by bus to Lake Placid Camp & Conference Center

Return to Summit Church 12pm Sunday, Jan. 15th

Cost $99

All meals are provided. Students do not need to bring extra money.

You might not think two nights away from home would be enough time for a teenager to be affected and moved to live a gospel-centered life. However, many of the students who attended in past years, have caught the vision and left GO/LOVE excited to share with their friends and family all that God had taught them.

GO/LOVE has become an exciting retreat that students look forward to each and every year. It’s a time where our middle and high school students can get away and unplug and seek the Father and His desire for their lives. GO/LOVE is a trip that comes and goes in the blink of an eye, but it stays with you for a lifetime.
