Trust in the Lord (Psalm 125)
Psalm 125 The Lord Surrounds His People
Trust in the Lord leads to unshakable lives in an uncertain world.
In an uncertain world, we need to remember…
1) We are abundantly secure. (v. 1-2)
Like Mount Zion. And surrounded by the Lord.
2) The threat is real, but won’t last. (v. 3-5a)
The threat is outside—evil rulers in this world.
But it is also within us—evil is alluring to us.
James 1:14-15 “lured and enticed by his own desire”
3) Trust keeps us where we belong (v. 1a)
Trust is an action: to put your weight on, like a chair:
The chair’s trustworthiness doesn’t depend on the sitter’s level of trust.
Trust grows through repetition.
Trust is only as good as its object.
The mountain is secure because it is the foundation.
Jesus is the true foundation of all.
We don’t journey to Jerusalem, because the mountain (Jesus) came to us.
“Peace be upon Israel!” (v. 5) Peace comes through trusting the right object.
